DRESDEN NUCLEAR POWER STATION, UNITS 2 AND 3 - EXEMPTION FROM THE REQUIREMENTS OF TITLE 10 OF THE CODE OF FEDERAL REGULATIONS PART 50, APPENDIX J (EPID L-2019-LLA-0232)
Dear Mr. Hanson:
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (the Commission) has approved the enclosed exemption from specific requirements of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR)
Part 50, Appendix J, for Dresden Nuclear Power Station, Units 2 and 3. This action is in response to your application dated October 21, 2019, as supplemented by letters dated May 6, 2020 and August 24, 2020 (Agencywide Documents and Access Management System (ADAMS) Accession Nos. ML19294A304, ML20127H891, and ML20237F317, respectively),
that requested, among other things, exclusion of main steam isolation valve pathway leakage from (1) the overall integrated leakage rate Type A test measurement required by Appendix J, Option B,Section III.A, and (2) the combined leakage rate of all penetrations and valves subject to Type B and C test measurements required by Appendix J, Option B,Section III.B.
A copy of the exemption is enclosed. The exemption has been forwarded to the Office of the Federal Register for publication.
