A' routine' radiation.' safety inspection was conducted on August'28 to
September 1,:1989 by Messrs. T. Dragoun and W. Thomas of this office. Areas-

reviewed-included use' of, radiation. caution signs, organization and. staffing,
radiation work permits, use of abandoned radwaste rooms, and audits-and
appra i sal s'. . Radiological controls observations made by Mr. William T. Russell,
Regional Administrator, during a' plant. tour on August 31, 1989 are also
includedLin this report.
Based on,the results of this inspection, we have concluded that improvements in
s
the. radiological controls-programs have been slow. Some initiatives noted in
previous:inspe'ctions:that' served to strengthen your_ program were not being
'
' implemented at.the time of this inspection. Additional management attention to
these programs:is warranted. Your cooperation with us is appreciated.
