Dear Mr. Barnes:
I am pleased to respond to your letter of August 24 1989, in which you requested nominations for the Environmental Protection Agency's Science Advisory Board (SAB).
I am pro-posing an individual who has scientific credentials, specialized knowledge and experience in environmental radiation I
protection, and a thorough understanding of Federal regulatory issues.
Mr. Charles B. Meinhold is a tenured senior scientist and head of the Radiological Sciences Division at Brookhaven-National Laboratory.
Mr. Meinhold has held major positions with the International Commission on Radiological Protection, the National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements, and many other important advisory organizations.
He has extensive research and management experience in environmental radiation protection dnd has served as a valuable advisor to the Nuclear Regulatory Commissfon staff on several occasions.
I have enclosed Mr. Meinhold's resume for your review.
I believe he would be a valuable addition to the SAB membership.
Sincerely,
. A.L Kenneth M. Carr
