Eseroise valve to the position required to fulfill its function at least onoe' every ?

. Power Operation and Cold Shutdowns - These series check valves provide the ASA boundary' between Class 1 RCS and Class 2 CVCS as required by ANSI N18.2a. These valves are not leak.

tested, are not high/ low pressure system interfaces and are not listed as RCS pressure isolation valves in Technical Specification Table 3.4-1.

These valves perform their safety 1 function in the closed position therefore partial stoking is not applicable. Full stroke' eneroising during power operation would require securing seal injaction flow to the remotor coolant pumps. The interruption of this flow would result in equa.gunent damage. Performing.

testing during cold shutdown would require contain= ant entry, plant manipulation and test equigunent set up.

Due to the similar function of these valves, the conditions observed during the Alternate Testing of one valve will be representative of the others.

Hardships resulting frra AIARA concerns and the use of manpower and resources which could be otherwise dedicated to more critical safety related work would not be acumpensated for by an increased level of quality or safety.

ALTERNATE TESTING:

Verify operability of the valves by partially disassembling, manually exercising and visually inspecting the internals of two of the valves at each refueling outage on an alternating schedule. If either of these valves are found to be inoperable then the other valves will be disassembled and inspected before any of the valves will be declared -

eperable.
