SUBJECT:

POTENTIAL OVEREXPOSURE OF TWO INDIVIDUALS Routine processing of April TLD personnel radiation monitoring badges indicated that two Daniel Construction Company workers may have received exposures of 7.083 rems and 4.617 rems during the month of April. The maximum exposure permitted by NRC regulations is 3 rems per c,alendar .

quarter. The two workers were assigned to projects on the turbine and im=

associated components, and apparently did not enter areas where radiation

(, ,l levels were high enough to cause the indicated exposures. The licensee stated that no radiography was performed around the turbine during April.

No source of expo yre is apparent at this time. The licensee's investigation is continuing.

Media interest is not expected at this time. A news ralease ir not l

planned by the licensee nor the NRC. The State of South Carolina has been afermed.

Region II (Atlanta) received notification of this occurrence by telephone from the licensee at 2:00 p.m. on May 12. This information is current as of 9:30 a.m. on May 15.
