SUBJECT: .NRC INSPECTION REPORT N0. 50-260/89-30
This . letter forwards a report on the results of a special . inspection of the
Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant Unit 2 (SFN-2) Civil Calculation Review Program
conducted at TVA's office in Knoxville, Tennessee on March 13-24, 1989. A
total of 11 design areas (concrete structures, steel structures, embedments,
soil and rock analysis, piles ano foundations, tanks and heat exchangers,
buried structures, settlement and slope stability, tornado evaluations, heavy
loads evaluations, and flooding) were reviewed and 14 issues were identified
(i.e., CC-1 through CC-14).
In addition, your response to three miscellaneous
items 1(CSG-32, CSG-34 and cable tray systems including supports) were also
reviewed. At the end of this inspection period, 12 items including CSG-32
and CSG-34 remain open. Some of the items were subsequently closed as a
result of follow-up inspections by the staff; however, they are still listed
as open items in this inspection report.
In accordance with Section 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," Part 2
Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, a copy of this letter and its enclosure
will be placed,in the NRC Public Document Room.
