. By letters ' dated ' July. 28, 1989'(ST-HL-AE-2694 and ST-HL-AE-2695), Houston Lighting & Power CompanyL(HL&P), pursuant to License Condition 2.C(4) of~ .

License No. HPF-76, informed the NRC that it was making changes to the initial test program for the South Texas Project, Unit,1. The changes were the deletion of.the subject tests.

In' response te' a staff request, HL&P provided additional. information; in particular the results of the tests conducted on foreign reactors with similar cotes. After review of the test results, we concluded that the 14 foot core at Sceth: Texas behaves in a similar manner as the 12 foot cores. Thus we find

-deletion of.the tests to-be acceptable.
