The Environmental Survey and Site Assessment Program (ESSAP) of the Oak Ridge Ins Science and Education (ORISE) analyzed 20 soil samples for uranium by alpha spectro U-234 The results are presented in Tables 1 and 2 respectively.

concentrations as determined by alpha spectrometry ranged from 1.25 to 84.9 pCi/g. U-2 determined only by alpha spectrometry due to the lack of significant gamma emissions. U-concentrations ranged from 0.08 to 3.49 pCi/g as determined by alpha spectrometry and <0 4.3 pCi/g as determined by gamma spectrometry. U-238 concentrations ranged from 19.9 pCi/g and 1.7 to 24.0 pCi/g as determined by alpha spectrometry and gamma spectro respectively. The total uranium concentrations ranged from 2.46 to 107.2 pCi/g.
All samples appear to contain enriched uranium except sample HS-B3-2 inside. Alpha gamma spectrometry results correlated well for all samples except HS-B3-2/inside B3-2/inside was analyzed once by gamma spectrometry and twice by alpha spectrometry.
I U-238 concentration for sample HS-B3-2/inside as determined by alpha spectrometry was approximately twice the concentration as detennined by gamma spectrometry for

approximately four times for a second aliquot.
Apparently, sample HS-B3-2/inside is inhomogenous despite routine sample processing.
ESSAP's QC procedures were followed for these analyses.
