The purpose of this letter is to revise our response to Generic Letter 88-01, Item 3 which requests that licensees propose a j
change.to their Technical Specifications to ir.clude a statement in j
the section on Inservice Inspection (ISI) that the ISI Program for piping covered by the scope of the Generic Letter will be in i
conformance with the staff positions on schedule, methods and personnel, and sample expansion.
In Reference'(1), Philadelphia Eiectric Company (PECo) committed to request:a' change to the Technical Specifications by December 31, 1988 to' include the statement recommended by'the Generic Letter.
This cominitment was deferred to March 31, 1989 by Reference (2).-
PECo also committed to revise the Updated Final Safety. Analysis Report to include the'
]
recommended statement.
However, upon review of other licensees' responses to. Item 3, and subsequent discussions with the. Lead NRC Project Manager'for this Generic Letter, we have concluded that inserting the recommended statement into the Technical' Specifications is not j7h[
necessary or appropriate.

Therefore, this letter amends our original response to Item 3 of Generic Letter 88-01 by withdrawing our commitment to propose an amendment to the.
q Technical Specifications concerning our ISI Program.
