This refers;to the Management Meeting conducted at Region IV's request in the-
NRC Region IV office on_May 8, 1989. -This meeting related to activities
authorized by NRC License No. NPF-38 for Waterford Steam Electric Station,-
Unit 3.
The subjects discussed at this meeting are discussed in the enclosed Meeting
Summary with the Attendance List attached.
It is our opinion that this meeting was beneficial and has provided for a
better understanding of the issues of two NRC inspections conducted
February 13-17, and 1-28,1989 (NRC Inspection Reports 50-382/89-05. and
50-382/89-06).
In accordance with Section 2.790.of,the NRC's " Rules of
Practice," Part 2, Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, a copy of this letter
will be placed in the NRC's Public Document Room.

On May 8, 1989, representatives of Louisiana Power & Light Company met with
Region IV personnel in Arlington, Texas, to discuss issues identified in two
NRC inspections conducted February 13-17 and 1-28,1989 (50-382/89-05 and
50-382/89-06).
The licensee's presentation addressed the conditions in which ITT Barton
pressure transmitters (Models 363 and 364) are used to detect level in the
containment sump. Additionally, the licensee discussed their understanding of
Technical Specification action statements and surveillance requirements
associated with safety-related equipment / systems when attendant support systems-
are taken out of service for maintenance.
