Gentlemen:

This refers to the special onsite review conducted by the NRC Augmented

Inspection Team (AIT) composed of E. McKenna, G. VanSickle and M. Kunowski

of this office, S. Sands of the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation and an

NRC Consultant, S. Nealey, on April 25-28, 1989, of activities associated

with events at Braidwood Station Units 1 and 2, authorized by Operating

License Nos. NPF-72 and NPF-77 and to the discussion of our findings with

Mr. D. O'Brien at the conclusion of the inspection.

The enclosed copy of the AIT report identifies areas examined during the

inspection. kithin these areas, the inspection consisted of a selective

examination of procedures and records, observations, and interviews with

personnel.

No violations or deviations were identified. Reconunendations developed by

the team as a result of this inspection are included in the enclosure for

your consideration. A letter documenting your actions in response to the

inattentiveness incidents is requested within 60 days of receipt of this

letter.

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of

this letter and the enclosure will be placed in the NRC's Public Document

Room.

We will gladly discuss any questions you have concerning this inspection.
