OF MEETING WITH TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITY -

MEETING OF MAY 8,1998 On May C, the Nuclear Regulatory Commissios(NRC) staff met with representatives of the Tennessee Valley Authority,(TVA), the licensee for Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant (BFN), Units 1, 2 and 3. The meeting attendees included Brian Cheron, Bruce Boger, Fred Hebdon, Al DeAgazio and L. Raghavan (NRC staff) and Chris Crane, Vice President, BFN and Tim

The meeting discussions were management levelin nature relating to operation of BFN units and status of several licensing actions and activities. TVA informed the staff of its plan to implement the improved standard technical specifications (ISTS) by July 6,1998 assuming NRC staff approval of the ISTS license amendment by July 1,1998. TVA also requested NRC staff approval of the power uprate amendment by August 1998, to enable TVA to complete the necessary equipment modifications and implement power uprate during the upcoming outage in October 1998. TVA also informed the NRC staff of its plan to repair certain cracks in the core spray line which the TVA observed a year ago. TVA requested NRC staff to make a determination on the sacceptabilityof TVA's March 1998 letter which proposed its approach for implementing the maintenance rule at BFN unit 1.

The meeting did not result in any regulatory action.
