ISSUANCE OF AMENDMENT N0.153 TO FACILITY OPERATING LICENSE N0. NPF-1, TROJAN NUCLEAR PLANT (TAC NO. 66714)

The Commission has issued the enclosed Amendment No. 153 to Facility Operating License No. NPF-1 for the Trojan Nuclear Plant. The amendment consists of changes to the Technical Specifications in response to your application (LCA-161)datedNovember 20, 1987, as supplemented May 27, and August 12, 1988.

The amendment permits the use of upgraded fuel assemblies which incorporate l

features of Westinghouse Vantage 5 Fuel assemblies, and allows extended fuel burnup up to 60 GWD/MT and higher nuclear peaking factors. The appropriate Technical Specifications and corresponding Bases are also revised to reflect these changes.

A copy of the related Safety Evaluation is also enclosed. The notice of issuance will be included in the Commission's next regular bi-weekly Federal Register notice.
