50-369 UNIT:

McGuire 1 DATE:

09/15/89 NARRATIVE

SUMMARY

Month: August 1989 McGuire Unit 1 began the month of August operating at 100% full power. At 0146 on 8/13, the unit began a power decrease to 81% per Dispatcher. At 0855 on 8/13, the unit commenced' power increase and reached 100% full power at 1400 on 8/13. The unit operated at or near 100% full power until 8/26 at 0934 when an automatic Reactor trip occurred due to a false indication of low reactor coolant flow. The Reactor reached criticality at 0713 on 8/27. At 1404 on 8/28, the Generator was on-line and the unit commenced power increase. The power increase was halted at 38% at 2100 on 8/28 due to Feedwater Heat Pump "1A" problems.

Power increase commenced at 1202 on 8/29, and the unit reached 100% full power at 2048 on 8/29. The unit operated at 100% full power for the remainder of the month.
