Dear Mr. Lochbaum:
I am responding to your letter to L. Joseph Callan, dated May 13,1998, where you expressed a concem regarding a meeting scheduled for May 21,1998, between the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation staff and representatives of the New York Power Authority. You stated that, as of May 13,1998, notice of this meeting had not been posted on the NRC website. You requested that this meeting be canceled and rescheduled with an appropriate notice period.
The meeting notice in question was issued on April 29,1998, and made available in the Public Document Room. This notice period meets our expectation that such notices be issued at least 10 days in advance of a meeting, consistent with our Management Directive 3.5. Therefore, we intend to conduct the meeting as scheduled.
We regret that notice of this meeting has not appeared on our Intemet website in a timely-manner. We have also determined that this meeting has not been included in the recorded announcements of upcoming meetings available at (800) 952-9674. We have looked into these matters, and are taking steps to correct the administrative oversight which occurred in an effort to continue to improve our public responsiveness. Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention.
