SECURITY PLAN REVISION UNDER 10 CFR 50.54(p)-YANKEE NUCLEAR POWER STATION Your letter of September 23, 1988, transmitted Revision No. 20 to the Yankee Nuclear Power Station Security Plan.

This revision included changes to the security organization and minor editorial changes.

We have reviewed the plan revision and have determined that the changes are l

consistent with tne provisions of 10 CFR 50.54(p), and are considered acceptable for inclusion into the plan.

I However, v:e noticed that Chapter 13 " Security Records", was. not revised to l

i conform to the 1988 revision of 10 CFR Parts 50 and 73 relative to the retention of security records.

This has been discussed with Mr. J. Palmieri of your staff.

It.is our understanding that Mr. Palmieri will include the new records retention requirements of 10 CFR Parts 50 an? 73 in the next plan revision, and that your current records retention practices do not constitute noncompliance with the revised NRC requirements.

If our understanding is incorrect, please advise us within ten days of receipt of this letter.

The enclosure to your letter contains Safeguards Information of a type specified in 10 CFR 73.21, and is being withheld from public disclosure.
