This refers to the-inspectfon conducted by Messrs. H. W. Kerch, R. H. Harris,
and M. A. Oliveri of the our Region I office during the period March 27
&
through April 6,1989, of activities authorized by NRC Operating License NPF-47
for River Bend Station, and to the discussion of our findings with you and
,
other members of your staff at the conclusion of the inspection,
u
Areas examined during the inspection included independent measureneents using
the mobile nondestructive examination laboratory of inservice inspection and
plant modification activities. Within this area, the inspection consisted of
selective examination of procedures and representative records, interviews with
personnel, and observations by the NRC inspectors. The A pecticn findings cre
documented in the enclosed inspection report.
Within the scope of the inspection, no violations or deviations were identified.
One unresolved item involving quality surveillance of nondestructive examination
contractors.is identified in paragraph 3.0 of the enclosed inspection report.
The inspection also identified a concern about the high radiation levels around
the biological shield wall.
