and D. M.'Hunnicutt of'this office during the period August 1-31, 1989, and'by

Mr. D. V. Pickett of the 0ffice of Nuclear Reactor Regulation during.the period

of August 29-31, 1989, of activities authorized by NRC Ophrating License.

No. NPF-42 for the Wolf Creek Generating Station, and to the discussion of our

. findings with Mr. J. A. Bailey and other. members of your staff at the conclusion

of. the inspection.

. Areas examined during the. inspection included plant status, onsite followup of.

events at operating power reactors, operational safety verification, monthly

surveillance observation, monthly maintenance observation,10 CFR Part 21

report followup, followup of previously identified NRC items, and balance of '

plant. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of selective examination

of procedures and representative records, interviews with personnel.:and

observations by the inspectors. The inspection findings are documented in the

enclosed inspection report.

During this . inspection, it was found that certain of your activities were in

violation of NRC requirements. However, in accordance with Section V.G.1 of

the NRC's Enforcement Policy, no citation is being issued for the violation

described in paragraph 3 of the enclosed inspection report.

Should you have any questions concerning this inspection, we will be pleased to

discuss them with you.
