INSPECTION ACCOMPANIMENT AND VISIT TO THREE MILE ISLAND II 1
BY LLWM STAFF AND TAIWANESE TECHNOLOGICAL EXCHANGE PERSONNEL This memo confirms the July 20, 1989 telephone request to you f rom LeRoy Person of my staff for your assistance in coordinating the above subject inspection accompaniment and visitor tour of the Three Mile Island.II Power Station's radweste processing and storage facilities on August 14, 1989.
Joe Furia of Region I will be conducting an inspection of TMI's radwaste systems during this time period and has agreed to be the required escort for LeRoy Person f rom the NRC Division of Low-Level Waste Management and Decommissioning (LLWM) staff and Yao Tsu Shao a citizen of the Republic of Taiwan who is currently participating in a technological exchange program between the Republic of Taiwan and the United States. Mr. Shao would be participating in this accompaniment as part of the exchange program and as such would be responsible for any travel expenses connected with his visit. The accompaniment is a routine LLWM function associateo with implementation of the HMSS Low-level Waste Inspection Program.
Neither LeRoy, or Yao has had access training and thus the reason for escorted access.
LeRoy Person (badge f B.359) has an L level security clearances. Mr. Shao is a Foreign Assignee and is not allowed access to classified, sensitive, or safeguards information as described in the enclosed memo to Ronald Hauber, Assistant Director for International Policy and Reactor Safety Cooperation, International Programs, Office of Governmental and Public Affairs from Raymond J.
j Brady, Director, Division of Security, Office of Administration.
Your assistance in coordinating this accompaniment and visit with the licensee would be appreciated.
