On November 3, 1988,. Carolina Power & Light Company submitted a request for license amendment for the Brunswick Plant,-Units 1 and 2.

-request proposed changes to the Technical Specifications to clarify the operability requirements for the~ service water system.
During the recent NRC Diagnostic Evaluation, the service water system was examined in detail by the NRC evaluation team.
During this evaluation, a number of service water system issues were raised which will require further examination by the Company. Therefore, the Company requests that NRC review of the license amendment request be suspended until August 31, 1989, pending resolution of these service water system issues.
