EXAMINATION D ORT, WOLF CREEK GENERATING STATION (WCGS)
During the week of November 28,'1988, the NRC administered examinations to employees of your company who had applied Tcr licenses to operate your WCGS facility. At the cor.clusion of the examination, the examination questions and preliminary findings were discussed with those members.of your staff identified in the enclosed report. One reactor operator (RO) applicant-(17. percent) and seven senior reactor operator (SRO) applicants (78 percent) passed all portions.

Candidate perfomance on the written examination, especially for the R0 candidates was much lower than anticipated. When we transmitted these results to your training staff, we requested that WCGS review your candidates' performance on this set of examinations to determine the cause(s) and actions necessary to prevent recurrence. On March 20, 1989, the NRC staff met with WCGS personnel to review this analysis. The results of that meeting are documented in the enclosed report.
