Subject:

Maine Yankee Quality Assurance Program - Revision 14 Section II-QA Program, Page 16 of17 1-Gentlemen:

As we discussed, enclosed is page 16 of 17 of Section II - QA Program to Revision 14 of the Maine Yankee Quality Assurance Program. This page has been revised to indicate that corrective action time frames will be based upon the safety significance of an issue as described in Generic Letter 91-18, Rev.1 (Sec. 4.3). Since, the generic letter addressees include power reactor licensees who have permanently ceased operations, the generic letter explicitly applies to Maine Yankee. In accordance with 10 CFR 50.54(a)(3), Reference (b), as suppicmented by Reference (c) provides the reason for the change, and the basis for concluding that the change continues to satisfy the criteria of 10 CFR Part 50 Appendix B and the Safety Analysis Report quality assurance program description commitments previously accepted by the NRC.
