NARRATIVE
SUMMARY
OF OPERATING EXPERIENCE Docket No.
50-266 Unit Name Point Beach Unit 1 Date September 8, 1989 Completed By C. W. Krause Telephone 414/221-2001 Unit 1 operated at approximately 490 MWe net throughout the report period with the exception of four significant load reductions.
The load reductions were the result of low electrical system _ demand in conjunction with nuclear fuel conservation.
The unit productivity (net output) decreased by 2%
because elevated temperatures of Lake Michigan have caused slightly elevated circulating water temperatures.
Unit 1 achieved 62 billion KWh on August 16.
The five-year Unit 1 containment tendon surveillance and the G02 annual emergency diesel generator surveillance were completed during the period.
No significant observations resulted from the surveillance activities.

OF OPERATING EXPERIENCE-Docket No.

C. W. Krause Completed By
-Telephone; 414/221-2001 Unit 2 operated at approximately 491 MWe net'throughout the period with one significant load reduction.
On August 20, the Unit 2 reactor tripped.
The transient was initiated by main transformer 2X01B'trckout followed by a generator trip, turbine trip and subsequent reactor trip.
The transformer lockout was initiated by the spurious actuation of the transformer's " sudden pressure"_ relay. :Due to the loss of electrical load, an Unusual Event was declhred.
The Unusual Event was terminated following an investigation into the plant trip / response and the conclusion that no significant problems existed.
The_ reactor was taken critical on August 21 and achieved full power at 0735 hours0.00851 days
0.204 hours
0.00122 weeks
2.796675e-4 months
, the next day.-
The unit productivity (net output) decreased by 2% because l '.
