'As per our agreement, I've outlined below how we would proceed now on the question of solidification. of.THI 2 resins.
It still appears that there.is some confusion w1. thin,yout group regarding. the basic elements of our agreement.
I would very mch like, to.ha.ve this settled one. way or another before we get down to'the Commission. hearing on.this rebject.
I hope that this outline will serve to clarify the.. discussion during the 11 a.m. meeting scheduled
. for October 3,..l979,_between Sob B.rsn.ing and. Dick Vollmer.,
HMSS concurs with beginning operation of EPICOR-II to process the radioactive contaminated weste water.wh.i.ch, has accumulated in the THI Unit 2 auxiliary building tanks ppoy.ided, arr.angements are made in parallel to obtain capability to solicify the _resulting re. sins and filter redia.
These arrangements should be uch that:
(1) No dsatie[ed7acuun. dried msins and filter media should be shipped from THI-2 for disposal., six. Exmths after the start up of EPICOR-II.
Subjequent to this six-month period, all resins and filter media shall be solidifi.ed pr.i.or.to shipment.
(2) The occupational radiation exposure 'from post-processing solidification shall not be significantly greater, than that wh.ich would o_ccur frts
. i n teg ra ted proc ess i ng..a nd s ol.i.d i.f.i ca.ti o.n.
(3) 'The solidificat'iMy~iteishal,l' $ consistent snd compatible with operation of.EPICOR IL'.
The above. conditions shall be. incorporated,'into the operator's license by NRR.
