TECHNICAL EVALUATION REPORT FOR OFFSITE DOSE CALCULATION MANUAL (ODCM) REVISION 9 - PRAIRIE ISLAND NUCLEAR GENERATING PLANT UNITS 1 AND 2 By letter dated August 28, 1987, Northern States Power Company submitted Revision 9 to the Offsite Dose Calculation Manual (0DCM) for the Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant Unit Nos. I and 2. The revised Manual has been reviewed for the NRC in its entirety by our contractor EG&G Idaho Inc. The results of this review are. contained in their Technical Evaluation Report (TER)

EGG-PHY-8073 a copy of which is enclosed.

We agree with our contractor's statement that the Prairie Island ODCM Revision 9 specifies methods that are in general consistent with NRC guidelines and is acceptable. However,. in the conclusion of the TER, there are a listing of a number of discrepancies end suggestions, some typographical in nature and others

~ dealing with technical issues that need to be addressed. You are therefore requested to consider our comments and issue a revision to the ODCM to reflect our comments within 150 days from the date of the letter.

This completes our efforts under TAC Nos. 73076 and 73077.
