7590-01 UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION NORTHEAST NUCLEAR ENERGY COMPANY DOCKET NO. 50-245 NOTICE OF DENIAL OF AMENDHENT TO FACILITY OPERATING LICENSE AND OPPORTUNITY FOR HEARING The U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (the Comission) has denied a request by Northeast Nuclear Energy Company (licensee) for an amendment to Facility Operating License No. DPR-21 issued to the licens'ee for operation of the Millstone Nuclear Power Station, Unit No.1, located in New London County, Connecticut. Notice of Consideration of Issuance of this amendment was published in the FEDERAL REGISTER on April 4, 1988 (53 FR 10960).
The purpose of the licensee's amendirent request was to revise the Technical Specifications (TS) to allow single loop operation at reduced power.
The NRC staff has advised the licensee that the proposed amendment is denied since the licensee has failed to respond to the Comission's request for additional technical information to support the application.
The licensee was notified of the Comissior.'s denial of the proposed change by a letter dated May 12, 1989.
By June 22, 1989, the licensee may demand a hearing with respect to the denial described above. Any person whose interest may be affected by this proceeding may file a written petition for leave to intervene, hgg52%$$Ik$$$$
