SUMMARY
OF FEBRUARY 23, 1989 MEETING REGARDING THE COMPLIANCE WITH APPENDIX R AND THE NEW SWITCHGEAR BUILDING On February 28, 1989, the NRC staff met with Connecticut Yankee Atomic Power Company (CYAPC0) to discuss the new switchgear building and its compliance with Appendix R.
CYAPC0 presented an overview of the progress that has been made on the building, how the building and its components comply with Appendix R and the planned tie-in and startup testing. By order, CYAPC0 must be in compliance with Appendix R by the end of the next refueling outage. To document the design criteria for the building and switchgear room, the Plant Design Change Requests (PDCR) were provided for NRC's review. CYAPC0 has offered to provide any additional information that may be needed and encouraged the reviewers to inspect the plant site.
Enclosed is CYAPCO's handouts for the meeting which include the new switchgear building project overview, a copy of the PDCRs and the refueling outage test program. Also enclosed is the attendance list.
