Dear Mr. Cahill:
This refers to the inspection conducted by Messrs. H. W. Kerch,
R. H. Harris, and M. A. Oliveri during the period July 17 through
July 27, 1989, of activities authorized by NRC Construction Permits
CPPR-126 and CPPR-127 for the Comanche Peak Steam Electric Station,
Units 1 and 2, and to the discussion of our findings with
you and other members of your staff at the conclusion of the
inspection.
The inspection covered preservice inspection activities, applicant
disposition of reported deficiencies, and the erosion / corrosion
program.
Within these areas, the inspection consisted of selective
examination of procedures and representative records, interviews
with personnel, and observations by the inspectors.
During this inspection, it was found that certain of your activities
were in violation of NRC requirements, as specified in the enclosed
A written response to these violations is
required.
Although the violations are identified as applicable to
Unit 1, your response should also address applicability to Unit 2.
The findings of our inspection also indicate that the preservice
