REQUEST FOR REVIEW AND END0RSEMENT OF THE PROP 0iED SAFETY EVALUATION OF B0ILING WATER REACTOR OWNERS GROUP TOPICAL REPORT NED0-32291, " SYSTEM ANALYSES FOR ELIMINATION OF SELECTED RESPONSE TIME TESTING REQUIREMENTS" The Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (NRR) requests that the Committee to Review Generic Requirements (CRGR) review and endorse the subject proposed I
safety evaluation report (SER).
Following endorsement, the proposed SER will be issued.
The General Electric Ccmpany, under the auspices of the BWROG, issued BWROG Licensing Topical Report NE00-32291, " System Analyses for Elimination of j
Selected Response Time Testing Requirements," in January 1994.
In NED0-32291, the BWROG utilized the information in EPRI Report NP-7243, and proposed the elimination of the requirements for performance of response time testing of j
selected instrumentation in the Reactor Protection System, Emergency Core j
Cooling System, and Isolation Actuation System. The staff considers this SER to be Category 2. is the letter to the Chairman of the Boiling Water Reactor Owner's Group (BWR0G), Mr. L. A. England, which will forward the staff's SER approving NED0-32291. is the SER as proposed by the staff. is the response to the questions contained in Section IV.B of the CRGR Charter. Attachment 4 is a copy of BWP0G Licensing Topical Report NED0-32291.
It is anticipated that after CRGR approval, the SER will be made a part of the Technical Specification line item improvement program.
The Office of the General Counsel reviewed this SER and has no legal objections.
