The subjects discussed, the agenda, and a list of attendees are described in the enclosed Meeting Summary.

It is our opinion that the meeting was beneficial to the attendees and of value' to NRC in promoting better communications and a clear understanding of specific NRC regulatory processes that affect power reactor licenses.

On August 8,1989, NRC Region IV sponsored a meeting at the University of Texas (Arlington) of NRC managers and senior utility executives representing each power reactor licensee in Region IV. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss general matters in five soecific topic areas identified in the attached meeting agenda. Attendees at the meeting are shown on the attached attendance list.

There were no plant specific issues discussed during this meeting and no

- decisions or conclusions were reached as a result of this meeting. However,.

the meeting was beneficial to the attendees in better understanding the processes, roles, and responsibilities of licensees and the NRC within the topic areas discussed.
