GENERIC. LETTER 83-28, ITEM 4.5.2 (REACTOR TRIP SYSTEM RELIABILITY ON LINE TESTING) (TAC N0. 56263)

RE: LIMERICK GENERATING STATION, UNIT 2 Generic Letter 83-28, Item 4.5.2 required licensees and applicants, with plants not currently designed to permit on-line testing of the reactor trip system,- to justify not making modifications to permit such testing.

By letter dated May 8,1984, you submitted a response to Generic Letter 83-28 which addressed a. number of items, including items 4.5.1, 4.5.2 and 4.5.3.

Our letter of March 26, 1987 informed you that we found your response to item 4.5.1 acceptable. In our enclosed safety evaluation, the NRC staff concludes that your response to Item 4.5.2 is acceptable. Therefore, we consider Item 4.5.2 to be complete.

It should be noted that item 4.5.2 and 4.5.3 of Generic Letter 83-28 have been assigned the NRC Technical Assignment Control (TAC) number 56263. The TAC will remain open until Item 4.5.3 is closed as well.
