'This refersLto the inspection conducted by Mr.'R. B.- Vickrey of this office

during the period June 22-23.11989, of activities authorized by NRC Operating

License DPR-40 for Fort Calhoun Station, and to the discussion of our findings

'

with you.and other members of your staff at the conclusion of the inspection.

The area examined during the inspection was. the; testing of the turbine driven

auxiliary feedwater pump. Within this area, the inspection consisted of

'4 elective examination of procedures and representative records, interviews with

personnel, and' observations by the NRC inspector. The inspection findings are-

documented in the enclosed inspection report.

During'this inspection, it was found that certain of your activities may be in

-violation of NRC requirements. As discussed in cur telephone! conversation

of July 7, 1989, with Mr. James Fisicaro, we have scheduled an enforcement

conference ~1n'our office at 10:00 a.m. on July 28. 1989. . At'this W eting, we

.

will' discuss-your understanding of the apparent. violations in this report, the

reason for occurrence,~and your corrective actions.
