SUBJECT: REQUALIFICATION EXAMINATION REPORT NO. 50-309/89-05(OL)
Gentlemen:
On May 15 - 18, 1989, the NRC conducted requalification examinations to employ-
ees of your company who operate the Maine Yankee Atomic Power Plant. The evalu-
ation was cenducted in accordance with Revision 5 to NUREG-1021, Operator
Licensing Examiner Standards, ES-601, Administration of NRC Requalification
Program Evaluations. The evaluation had two purposes: (1) to evaluate indivi-
dual operator competency and (2) to evaluate the effectiveness of the licensed
operator requalification training program at Maine Yankee. At the conclusion
of the examination, any generic findings that evolved as a result of the exami-
nation were discussed with those members of your staff identified in the
enclosed report.
As a result of this evaluation, your requalification program has been assigned
an overall program rating of satisfactory in accordance with the criteria of
b,UREG 1021, ES-601. All operators ' passed the written, walk-through and simu-

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of this
