Dear Mr. Chairman:
A substantial coalition of labor,' business, taxpayer and citizen organizations has been formed on Long Island to support the 100% licensing of the 800 megawatt Shoreham Nuclear Plant which has been completed since 1985 but' i
prevented from commercially operating by prolonged-

litigation.
Long Island has a' vital and current.need for j
additional electrical power which only Shoreham can satisfy.
l Last summer, we had brownouts in spite of' operating' existing fossil fuel plants at 98% of capacity.
The possibility of i
further brownouts and blackouts this summer is very likely.
The economy of Long Island'is in serious jeopardy unless;a 100% license for Shoreham is promptly issued.
As a concerned citizen, I respectfully urge that you do all 4
in your power to have a 100% license issued ~for Shoreham as i
soon.as possibic.
