NRC INSPECTION REPORT NO. 50-260/88-39
This letter forwards a report on the results of the second inspection of the
Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant Unit 2 (BFN-2) Seismic Design Program at TVA's
office in Knoxville, Tennessee between December 19-22, 1988. A total of eight
open items previously. identified in NRC Inspection Report 50-260/88 38 dated
April 19,1989 in the area of amplified response spectra (ARS) generation were
reviewed during this inspection.
At the conclusion of this inspection, the status of the initial 32 issues
identified in'IR 50-260/88-38 is as follows.
In IR 50-260/88-38, 4 of the 32
items were closed.
In this inspection (IR 50-260/88-39),6 additional items
were closed. Thus, 22 of the 32 items remain open.
Closure of all 32 items
is required prior to the restart of BFN-2. The staff will review the
resolutions of the remaining 22 open items in future inspections.
In accordance with Section 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," Part 2
Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, a copy of this letter and its enclosure
will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
