Docket No. 50-285 2.

Letter from NRC (A. Bournia) to OPPD (K. J. Morris) dated June 29, 1989 Gentlemen:

SUBJECT:

Resolution of HED 93 Regarding Indicator Light Bulb Issue HED 93 identified a concern that, "in general, indicator lights do not have a lamp test feature". Omaha Public Power District (0 PPD) intends to resolve this issue using one of the four acceptable methods r.otea in Reference 2.

This will involve repiacing the normally off and non-testable, single indicating, safety-related lamps with "long-life" Light Emitting Diode (LED) cluster lamps.

I Should the NRC accept OPPD's proposed resolution of this issue and respond by May of 1990, a modification will be issued and the work will be completed during the 1991 refueling outgage.

If you should have any questions, please contact us.

I Sincerely, K.

. Morris Division Manager Nuclear Operations KJM/pjc c:
