Gentlemen:
YJEGjNIA ELEQTj31Q_.AND POWER COMPANY NORTH ANNA POWER STATION UNITS 1 AND 2 SQEPLfJAENTAL RESPONS_E_ TO NRC BULLETIN No. 88-10 NRC Compliance Bulletin No. 88-10, Nonconforming Molded-Case Circuit Breakers, requet, ted a summary.of the total number, manufacturer, r.odel number, and to the extem possible, the procurement chain, for those molded-case circuit breakers (MCCBs) in our. station stores which were identified as purchased before August 1, 1988 and which could not be traced to a circuit breaker manufacturer (CBM). This summary was provided in Attachment 1 to our March 31, 1989 letter (Serial No. 88-788A).
At that time, we committed to providing the same information on the molded-case circuit breakers installed in safety-related systems between August 1,1983 and August 1,1988. This information (see Attachment 1 to this letter) is provided in the
'j form of an updated version of the summary which was attached to our March 31,1989 letter. Examination of this summary shows that six (6) non-traceable molded-case circuit breaken were installed at North Anna during the subject time period. Of these six (6) circuit breakers, only one was installed in a safety-related application.
We also committed in our March 31, 1989 letter to providing a schedule for the repiacoment of any non-traceable molded-case circuit breakers installed in safety-i related applications.
The one (1) non-traceable molded-case circuit breaker that was installed in Unit 2 was replaced with a traceable breaker. However, a circuit breaker of the proper type and with propar traceability is presently not available for replacement of the one (1) safety-related molded-case circuit breaker that is installed on the motor hoist on the fuel building fuel transfer crane. This breaker has been evaluated for use during the Unit 1
.i 1989 fueling outage. If this breaker should fail, the crane would fail to a safe position i
such that it would not enable lifting or releasing of the load. We are currently pursuing the necassary traceability paperwork for some of our stock molded-case circuit breakers.
This non-traceabte molded case circuit breaker will be replaced with a traceable p!

molded-case circuit breaker upon receipt of that paperwork. The four (4) non-traceable L
molded-case circuit breakers that were installed in the Unit 1 main transformers will also be replaced with traceable circuit breakers as soon as possible.
Should you have any questions concerning this response please contact us.
l Very truly yours, ' f -
