SUBJECT:
LICENSEE CONFIRMATION OF ITS RESPONSE T0 NRC BULLETIN 89-01,
" FAILURE OF WESTINGHOUSE STEAM GENERATOR TUBE MECHANICAL PLUGS" By letter dated June 19,1989, the Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corporation responded to NRC Bulletin 89-01.
In its response, the licensee confirmed that activities required to address the issues discussed in the Bulletin have-been performed. Westinghouse supplied information along with the Wolf Creek GeneratingStation(WCGS)informationindicatethatthesteamgeneratortube plugs identified in the bulletin have not been used in WCGS steam generators.
In addition, the licensee committed to the examination of removed plugs as required by Action 2.e of the bulletin. Therefore, we consider this action complete.
By copy of.this memorandum, Region IV is advised of the licensee's position on this matter.
