Gentlemen:
.This refer? to the inspection conducted by Mr. J. R. Boardman of this office
during the periods June 5-9 and June 20-21, 1989, of activities authorized by
NRC Operating License NPF-38 for the Waterford Steam Electric Station, Unit 3,
and to the discussion of our findings with Mr. R. P. Barkhurst and other
members of your staff en June 9 and at the conclusion of the inspection.
Areas examined during the inspection included the licensee's programs for the
,
installation of electrical splices using heat-shrinkable tubing, control of
emergency. diesel generator fuel oil during storage, and information' relating to
.the containment building, temperature profile. .Within these areas, the
_
inspection consisted of selective examination of procedures and representative
records, interviews with personnel, and observations by the NRC inspector. The
inspection findings are documented in the enclosed inspection report.
Within the scope of the inspection, no violations or deviations were
identified.
We'have also examined actions you have taken with regard to previously
a
identified inspection findings. The status of these items is identified in
paragraph 2 of the enclosed report.
