VIRGINIA ELECTRIC AND POWER COMPANY NORTH ANNA POWER STATION UNIT 1 RESPONSE TO NRC BULLETIN 88-11 PRESSURIZER SURGE LINE THERMAL STRATIFICATION in our letter (Serial No. 89-006A) dated May 3,1989, Virginia Electric and Power Company stated our commitment to perform visual inspection and ultrasonic examination of the North Anna Power Station Unit 1 pressurizer surge line prior to restart. The results of this inspection contribute to a program to confirm pressurizer surge line integrity.
No discernible distress or damage was identified for the Unit 1 pressurizer surge line piping, supports, restraints, or anchor bolts. The ultrasonic examination of the welds of concern produced no relevant indications.
