SUBJECT:

ENVIRONMENTAL QUALIFICATION OF BUNKER RAM 0 CONTAINMENT PENETRATION ASSEMBLIES - ARKANSAS NUCLEAR ONE, UNIT 2 (TACNO.73298)

By letters dated January 31 and February 1,1989 licensees with Bunker Ramo containment penetration asserslies installed in their plants were requested to provide additional information regarding the resolution of issues involving theenvironmentalqualification(EQ)ofBunkerRamocontainmentpenetration assemblies.

By letter dated April 28, 1989, Arkansas Power and Light (AP&L) responded to the request. In your response you indicated that AP&L has enhanced its EQ files on the low voltage Bunker Ramo penetration assemblies, particularly with regard to the area of insulation resistance; and that the ANO-2 assemblies are fully qualified in a manner consistent with Bulletin 79-018.

Please note that the staff has indicated that the EQ files related to the Bunker Ramo assemblies are subject to NRC audit in the future. This letter closes TAC No. 73298.
