This'isito advise'you-of a maintenance team inspection (MTI) that has been
scheduled at the. Cooper Nuclear Station site during the weeks of November 13

- The inspection ~ team will. consist of approximately six inspectors.made up of
.i NRC. personnel and consultants. Mr. Jim Gagliardo, the Region IV Program.
Manager for. MTIs, will also ' accompany the team for part' of the inspection..
'As part of.the preparation for_this inspection.~the team desires to hold meetings
- with appropriate members of your staff ~ at the-Cooper site October 23-25, 1989.
1 The' purpose of these' meetings will be to define the scope of the inspection,'to-tdiscuss interfaces between the. team and-your staff, and to have the team d
members present receive ~the training to be. badged for unescorted _ access.
1 Additional'information to support badging the team members for unescorted i
access'will be.provided to you in. separate correspondence.
It is requested i
- that you provide those to be badged;with any required site-specific training.

- The inspection team is scheduled to arrive on site the morning of' November 13,.
l 1989,'at approximately 8 a.m., and those team members who were.not badged j
during the site visit.in' October will require the appropriate site-specific training.for unescorted access.
The inspection team would'like to. schedule'an entrance interview at approximately 9 a.m. on November 13;'1989.. An exit interview will be scheduled approximately.
one week after the final day of the' inspection. The team leader will conduct a.
daily debriefing withlyour staff regarding preliminary findings and concerns that may.requirti prompt attention.
