Dear Mr. Johnson:
This letter is in response to your letter of May 15, 1989 to Mr. Lando W.
Zech, Chairman, U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Comission, expressing your concern relating to the handling of allegations regarding calibration of gauges, calibration procedures, and possible employee job discrimination at Millstone Unit 2.
We unoerstand that you are not satisfied that these allegations have been resolved.
Therefore, we have decided to address your concerns and the allegations of others at the Millstone station through a special inspection conducted by an evaluation team involving joint participation by the NRC Office of Nuclear Reactor. Regulation and the NRC Region I office.
This team will visit Millstone, conduct interviews, and inspect open technical issues associated with your allegations and the allegations of others.
You will be contacted to set up a time agreeable to you for an interview.
Our current schedule is to conduct interviews during the week of June li.,1989, and to perform inspections during the week of June 19, 1989. A report will be prepared and will,be made available to you.
We realize that you have previously contacted the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) concerning possible discrimination agairst you by your employer. As a reminder, if you believe any other discrimination has occurred, you have 30 days from the date of the event to file a complaint with DOL.
If you have additional information or questions, please bring them to the attention of the special team during the team visits.
