COMPONENT DEGRADATION DUE TO INDISCRIMINATE PAINTING Enclosed is a Technical Review Report on the above subject. This study was initiated as a result of occurrences at Catawba, wherein drains on the housings of motor actuators were inadvertently painted, causing invalidation of environ-mental qualification of the motor operators and inoperability of safety related valves.

Based on available data, the study concludes no generic considerations are associated with component degradation from indiscriminate painting. Accordingly, no additional AEOD actions are warranted at this time.
