NRC Information Notice 88-31: Steam Generator Tube Rupture Analysis Deficiency, May 25, 1988 Gentlemen:
TU Electric was notified of a potential deficiency in the steam generator tube rupture (SGTR) analysis'for CPSES Units 1 and 2 via the referenced Information Notice. The-Information Notice, which discusses the potential steam generator-tube uncovery during the postulated SGTR event, was provided to alert the addressees to potential problems resulting from a non-conservatism in the safety analysis for SGTR, with the expectation that recipients would review the information for applicability to their facilities and consider actions to avoid similar problems.
The Westinghouse Owner's Group (WOG) is currently addressing this issue on a generic' basis.
If a CPSES plant-specific response is required, it will be issued following the completion of the WOG effort.
