This letter refers to the routine ufeguards inspection conducted by
Messrs. W. T. Olsen and W. K. Lancaster of this office on June 26-30, 1989, and
to the discussion of our findings held by Mr. Olsen with members of your staff
at the concluston of the inspection. The inspection was conducted at the
Haddam Neck Nuclear Power Plant in Haddam Neck, Connecticut, and the Northeast
Nuclear Energy Company offices in Berlin, Connecticut, of activities' authorized
by NRC. License No. DPR-61.
Areas examined-during this inspection are described in the NRC. Region I
Inspection Report which is enclosed with this letter. Within these areas, the
inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures and representative
records, interviews with personnel, and observations by the inspectors.
Within the scope of this inspection, no violations were observed.
Portions of the. enclosed inspection report contain details of your security
program that have been determined to be exempt from public disclosure in
accordancewith10CFR73.21(SafeguardsInformation). Therefore, those
portions will'not be placed in the NRC Pubiic Document Room (PDR) and wili
