Dear Ms. Wiehle:
This is in regard to your submittals dated April 22, 2020 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System [ADAMS] Accession No. ML20125A103), May 7, 2020 (ADAMS Accession No. ML20139A100), and June 17, 2020 (ADAMS Accession No. ML20174A144). In your submittals, you requested approval of proposed amendments to the American Centrifuge Plant license SNM-2011 for possessing byproduct, source and special nuclear material for the purpose of operating a 16-centrifuge High Assay Low Enriched Uranium cascade in existing buildings leased from the Department of Energy in Piketon, Ohio. Our review of your application has identified that additional information is needed before final action can be taken. We previously provided to you drafts of the additional information via two separate e-mails, on August 7, 2020 (ADAMS Accession No. ML20223A155) and August 10, 2020 (ADAMS Accession No. ML20230A028). These were appropriately modified as a result of discussions that took place during an NRC staff site visit to your Technology and Manufacturing Center in Oak Ridge Tennessee on October 10 to 12, 2020.
Please provide your response within 30 days from the date of this letter.
Pending your response, we anticipate completing our review by June 2, 2021. This date could change depending on the findings of our technical review, urgent assignments, or other factors. We will promptly communicate any significant changes to this schedule.
Enclosure 1 transmitted herewith contains Security Related Information. When this document is separated from the security related conditions in Enclosure 1, this document is decontrolled.
