NRC Bulletin No. 89-01; Failure of Westinghouse Steam Generator Mechanical Tube Plugs The subject bulletin discusses the failure of steam generator mechanical tube plugs supplied by Westinghouse. Addressees were requested to determine if mechanical tube plugs of specific heats had been installed in steam generators used at the facility. Addressees were then requested to take corrective actions to preclude failure of the subject tube plugs.
Currently, there are no Westinghouse tube plugs installed in the Fort Calhoun steam generators. Thus, NRC Bulletin No. 89-01 does not apply and the corrective actions requested concerning installed Westinghouse mechanical tube plugs are not applicable to the Fort Calhoun Station.
