.A. S.~ Gautam and S. P. Ray _of this office on March 16, 1989,. through May 30,
1989, of.' activities at Clinton Power Station authorized by NRC Operating

License No. NPF-62, and to the discussion of our findings with Mr.-D. P. Hall

and others of-your staff at the conclusion of the inspection.

.The enclosed copy of our inspection report identifies areas examined during-
l
the. inspection; Within these areas, the inspection consisted of a.selec.ve
examination of procedures and representative records, observations, and
Linterviews'with personnel.
Dbring this inspection,-certain of your activities appeared to be in violation-
of NRC requirements as specified in the enclosed Notice. With respect to Item 1,
t
the inspection showed that actions had been taken to correct the identified
violation and-to prevent recurrence. Our understanding of your. corrective
1 actions is described in Paragraph 2.d of the enclosed inspection report.
_ Consequently, no reply to the violation is required and we have'no further
-
-questions regarding this matter-at this time.
Regarding the remaining items, a written response is required.
You may wish
to consider the comments in Paragraphs 2.f and 12 of the enclosed report in
your. response.
'Also during this inspection, certain other activities regarding the
environmental: qualification of electrical equipment appeared to be in
' violation of NRC requirements (Paragraph 9 of the report). ' We are releasing
this report at this. time for your information.
Following an enforcement
conference, you will be notified by separate correspondence of our decision
regarding enforcement action.
No written response is required until you are
notified of proposed enforcement actions.
