Subject:

McGuire Nuclear Station, Unit 1 Docket No. 50-369 NRC Bulletin NO. 88-09 Thimble Tube Thinning in Westinghouse Reactors Gentlemen:

My December 22, 1988 letter to the Document Cont ol Desk transmitted Duke Power's response to NRC Bulletin 88-09 for McGuire Nuclear Station Unit 1.

Please be advised that the McGuire Unit 1 response contained two typographical errors. In the approximate wear calculation, the maximum wall loss should have been 30% and nct 39% as indicated in the submittal.

Additionally, the approximate wear rate per cycle is given by:

WR = (30% + 10%) / 5 = 8% / cycle In the December 22, 1989 submittal the numerator had been misspelled and was reported as (305 + 10%). These two changes are the result of typographical errors and do not affect the approximate wear rate calculation in my December 22, 1988 submittal for McGuire Unit 1.

Very truly yours, H.
